This Chalisa is commonly recited steadily for forty-one days, with the hours just after sunrise and at dusk held to be the most favourable times to read it.

A guideline of the practice: the worship should be kept private, and while observing the vow the devotee is asked to live with restraint and self-discipline.

Recite the Chalisa only in clean clothing, keeping the mind attentive and focused throughout the reading.
