Roop Chaturdashi Katha - English & Hindi

It comes on fourteenth day of the Kartik Krishna Paksha. On this day Lord Shri KrishnaFast is also done on this day; by doing this Lord Krishna giving beauty and prosperity to his devotees. This day is also known as Narak Chaturdashi and Choti Diwali.

In south India, people are beautifying themselves at the most on this day and it is a belief that those who are worshipping the Lord Krishna with full of devotion after bathing and cleaning, they spend their whole year happily and cheerfully.

The importance of this day is also described in Vedas:- on this day, after bathing early in the morning do the Tarpan for Yamraaj and offer three handful of water (Jalanjali). The people whose fathers are alive can also do this Tarpan. At evening, worship the God by lightening the deeps (lights).

Once upon a time a saint was living in the city Hiranyagarbh in India. The saint wanted to devote himself completely into God so he went to the mausoleum. After some times, saint found small tiny insects into his body and hair. The saint was very disappointed about his condition. At same time The same time Narad ji came to him by playing harp, saint asked to Narad ji, “O Naradji I wanted to devote myself completely into the God, but why I am in this condition?” Then Narad ji replied, “O Yogiraaj, you know the contemplation but you doesn’t know about body ethics.” Then saint again questioned Naradaji, “Please do let me know about body ethics.” By seeing him in the trouble, Narad ji said to him, “At present you need not to know about body ethics, you just do, what I am telling you and by doing this you would be the same healthy and graceful.” The saint did the same as Naradji told him and by doing it he become healthy and happy and from same day fourteenth day of the Kartik Krishna Paksha called Roop Chaturdashi.It comes on fourteenth day of the Kartik Krishna Paksha. एक हिरण्यगभ नामक एक राजा थे | उन्होंने राज पाठ छोड़कर तप में अपना जीवन व्यतीत करने का निर्णय किया |उन्होंने कई वर्षो तक तपस्या की लेकिन उनके शरीर पर कीड़े लग गए | उनका शरीर मानों सड़ गया | हिरण्यगभ को इस बात से बहुत दुःख तब उन्होंने नारद मुनि से अपनी व्यथा कही | तब नारद मुनि ने उनसे कहा कि आप योग साधना के दौरान शरीर की स्थिती सही नहीं रखते इसलिए ऐसा परिणाम सामने आया | तब हिरण्यगभ ने इसका निवारण पूछा | तब नारद मुनि ने उनसे कहा कि कार्तिक मास कृष्ण पक्ष चतुर्दशी के दिन शरीर पर लेप लगा कर सूर्योदय से पूर्व स्नान करे साथ ही रूप के देवता श्री कृष्ण की पूजा कर उनकी आरती करे इससे आपको पुन : अपना सौन्दर्य प्राप्त होगा | इन्होने वही किया अपने शरीर को स्वस्थ किया | इस प्रकार इस दिन को रूप चतुर्दशी (Roop Chaudas) भी कहते हैं |
